Kildare is a street located around southwest side high school Curie Metro High School. Over the past few years students there have documented their experiences in the neighborhood as part of the series Southwest Side Stories. Some of those stories include personal reflections and reactions to dangerous and violent sitiations in the neighborhood.

It’s those dangerous situations that the anti-violence initiative CeaseFire tries to prevent. The group recently gathered hundreds of young people who have been directly affected by gun violence to discuss their experiences. CeaseFire director Tio Hardiman was there and he told “Eight Forty-Eight’s” Jason Marck what he learned.
