The Chicago Housing Authority has a new interim chief. Carlos Ponce will be filling in as head of the CHA while the agency searches for a permanent replacement. Ponce has served on the CHA board of commissioners since he was appointed in 2003 by then-Mayor Richard Daley. The agency is still discussing what kind of payment Ponce will receive for the temporary position.

Former CHA chief Lewis Jordan resigned last month amid scrutiny that he used a city credit card inappropriately. Jordan had said the issue was an impediment to his job performance. But he also said his use of the credit card followed CHA and federal housing policies. Jordan was head of CHA since 2007.
