Mayor-elect Rahm Emanuel has been shifting leadership across agencies – including the police department, schools, and transportation. But he’s keeping the leadership at the Chicago Housing Authority intact.

Lewis Jordan is staying on as CHA’s CEO, a position he’s held since 2008. Board chair James Reynolds is staying on, too.

An Emanuel spokesperson said the incoming mayor is pleased with the direction of the public housing agency.

The decision comes while CHA is winding down its controversial $1 billion Plan for Transformation. It began in 1999 and has guided the tearing down of high-rise housing developments and construction of mixed-income communities. It’s the largest redevelopment plan of public housing in the country.

The plan is behind its original schedule, but is supposed to be completed in 2015. There will be 25,000 thousand new or rehabbed units.
