The city of Chicago has begun installing data sensors that will eventually monitor the whole city.

When the “Array of Things” network is complete, 500 sensors will track a variety of data points, including pedestrian patterns, how loud it is in a given area, and cloud cover.

The first few sensors were recently installed in the Pilsen neighborhood. The network is expected to be fully up and running by 2018.
