Cook County’s incoming top prosecutor won’t give specifics on how she will help reform the county’s bond system. 

State Attorney-elect Kim Foxx has clear ideas about how cash bail punishes the poor.  But Foxx is less direct when it comes to what she will do about it when she takes over as Cook County state’s attorney. 

As top prosecutor, Foxx could instruct those below her to just stop asking judges to require cash bonds. Foxx won’t commit to doing that. Instead she pledged to make sure her staff is fully informed of the alternatives to bail. WBEZ’s Patrick Smith reports.
