World Music Day has been around for about three decades. The Fête de la Musique got its start and original name in France. Now, it’s a global celebration, taking place in over 400 cities around the world. This year, for the first time ever, Chicago will be a part of the festivities. Make Music Chicago takes place all day long on Tuesday, June 21, throughout the city.

There are a range of sounds from the city’s diverse music community. Classical, gospel, rock and electronic will be part of the mix.

The festival includes free, live music performances at a variety of fun spots – including the Fulcrum Point New Music Project, the Chicago Cultural Center and the Lincoln Park Zoo.
