If you tuned into this radio station at noon over the last few months, chances are you heard Chicagoan Ahmed Rehab. While Tunisians were brining down Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, he had been following the Facebook page where 85,000 people pledged to take part in protests all over Egypt on January 25. As an Egyptian-American and human rights activist, he flew to Cairo to see what would happen.

He ended up witnessing history and blogging about it at Mindful of Dreams. We spoke to Ahmed on several occasions about the events transpiring in Tahrir Square.

Ahmed remained in Cairo after President Hosni Mubarak left office to mingle with the young revolutionaries and film a documentary about Egypt’s historic transformation. Earlier this week, he returned to Chicago, where he’s the executive director of the local chapter of the Council of Islamic-American Relations.

Ahmed Rehab dropped by our studios to reflect on his experiences.
