Chicago-area residents debate U.S. action in Syria

Two Chicago-area residents who dropped by WBEZ’s bureau in Crown Point, Ind. had very different reactions to President Barack Obama’s Tuesday prime time address on Syria. Michael Gonzalez is a freelance writer based in Lake Station, Indiana and is skeptical of using force against the regime of Bashar al-Assad.

But for Dr. Muhammad Kudaimi, a doctor from South Holland, Illinois who was born in Syria, the issue is personal. He said that while he supports a U.S. military strike, he is still very conflicted about bombing his own country.
