Chicago first lady Maggie Daley is resting at home after a week-long stay in a hospital.

The wife of Mayor Richard Daley was readmitted to Northwestern Memorial Hospital last week after experiencing flulike symptoms, including nausea and dehydration following surgery on her leg last month.

Northwestern oncologist Dr. Steven Rosen said Monday that Maggie Daley was admitted to the hospital for treatment of an infection, which he says has been resolved.

In a statement, Daley said she is feeling much better, and is “very grateful” for the prayers and good wishes she’s received. Rosen says Daley will continue to receive therapy for cancer on an outpatient basis. She was diagnosed with metastatic cancer in 2002.
