Chicago police recruits rarely flunk out of the academy, according to a new investigation by the Chicago Tribune. It found that 97 percent of recruits graduated over a four-year period - compared to the average 86 percent graduation rate across 600 academies. CPD says its pre-academy vetting process is stringent to appoint the best candidates.
