The Chicago Children’s Museum might stay where it is after all. Officials with the Chicago Children’s Museum are currently in talks with Navy Pier about possibly staying put at the lakefront.

It’s the latest twist in the museum’s push to move to a controversial location at Daley Bicentennial Plaza in Grant Park.

In a statement, Children’s Museum CEO Jennifer Farrington says talks focus on whether “the plans for a revitalized Navy Pier could support goals for a new museum.” But Farrington also states the organization continues to plan for a move to Grant Park.

The museum plans to build a mostly-underground facility, but opponents have said the project would violate a court decision saying Grant Park should remain free of buildings.

Farrington says the top priority is to make a museum that best serves Chicago’s children and families.
