Director Claude Lanzmann was a French resistance fighter and a lover of Simone de Beavoir. He’s best known for his epic nine-and-a-half hour documentary, Shoah. The film is considered to be one of the most important records of Holocaust history. Lanzmann’s memoir, The Patagonian Hare, was just published in the United States.
