Conrad Black, the former chairman of Hollinger International, did not appear for his arraignment in federal court Tuesday.

He’s accused of stealing more than $80 million from Hollinger during his time as the head of the company that owns the Chicago Sun-Times.

An attorney for Black who’s based in Toronto, Canada, contacted federal prosecutors in Chicago Monday night and requested that the case be delayed.

With the agreement of prosecutors, the judge pushed back the former media tycoon’s court date to give him a little more time to choose representation.

Mail and wire fraud charges against Black were announced last Thursday.

Randall Samborn is the spokesman for the U.S. Attorney’s Office, and he says court appearances are rescheduled every day.

He wouldn’t speculate as to whether or not Black will show up next week. Samborn says prosecutors have a warrant for Black, but they’re holding onto it for now.
