Rainforests are recognized and valued for their astounding biodiversity. They play an important role in reducing carbon in the atmosphere. Environmentalists continue to fight hard for rainforest conservation. But while most people like trees, it’s hard to feel a connection with the vibrant world of rainforests.

Dr. Nalini Nadkarni thinks making that connection is crucial for the rainforest’s survival. Nadkarni is one of the world’s leading tree forest ecologists. She teaches at Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington. She also co-founded the International Canopy Network to help people engage with the canopies all around us.
