Construction Overruns at Kennedy King College
Kennedy-King College is building a new campus and construction costs have soared. The Chicago Public Buildings Commission and City Colleges' administration are looking for money to make sure the new campus opens as scheduled in fall, 2007.
Commission spokesperson Bennie Currie says engineers will continue to look for ways to slim the price-tag and they may be able to pick up extra dollars from other projects that ran under-budget.
Currie says it's also possible they'll delay or slim construction plans at other city colleges. That decision would be made jointly with the City Colleges' administration.
An administration spokesperson refused to provide additional comment.
