The chief judge of Cook County Circuit Court is asking the county board for funds to cover body-cameras for probation officers.

At a county budget hearing Monday, chief judge Timothy Evans said he’d ask commissioners for funding for the cameras, saying they would protect both the integrity of the process and the property of probationers.

Commissioner John Daley said the body cameras could help avoid costly lawsuits.
