The Chicago Police Department is planning regular “Coffee with Cops” events.

An event in the 2nd district was at a McDonald’s on 47th Street, where many of the conversations were cordial. One officer said she got a lot of questions about traffic stop procedures.

Robin Jackson works and lives in the neighborhood. She said opportunities to meet officers in a casual setting is important.

“To get to know all the police officers for them to know me, know my child because I do have an African American son. He’s only 11. I don’t want anything happening to him,” she said.
