An embattled Chicago police detective is resigning just before a city hearing on whether to fire him. Dante Servin shot and killed a 22-year-old named Rekia Boyd in 2012. A Police Board hearing on whether to fire the detective was set to begin Thursday.
His attorney said Servin didn’t do anything wrong but said the cards were still stacked against Servin. So the detective quit Tuesday before he could be fired.
