Da coach Mike Ditka was in downtown Chicago on Monday speaking about concussions in football.

Former NFL players have sued the league due to health problems associated with their playing days and some believe concussions have lead to dementia, alcoholism and other problems later in life.

The legendary Bears player and coach said he wouldn’t trade anything for the pleasure he got from playing 11 seasons in the NFL, but he says the league needs to own up.

“I know there is a obligation and responsibility and that falls on the hands of the National Football League right now,” Ditka said. “It’s time they settle all these problems right now and take care of the players that need help.”

Ditka made his comments at a luncheon of the City Club of Chicago, a group of civic and business leaders.

The luncheon took place at Maggiano’s Little Italy.
