Decision On Laquan McDonald Records, Delayed

An attorney for Laquan McDonald’s estate says the teen’s mother doesn’t want her son’s juvenile records released.

The legal team for Jason Van Dyke, the officer charged in the fatal shooting of McDonald, wants to use McDonald’s juvenile records for the officer’s defense.

But McDonald’s Attorney Rob Robertson says there is no legal basis to disclose the information. Robertson wants 10 days to respond to the request in writing, which a Cook County judge granted.

The decision to release McDonald’s juvenile records has been delayed a few times, and the judge is expected to rule in August.
