After the 2008 election of President Obama, many spoke of the beginning of a “post-racial” era for American life and politics. However, at least one University of Chicago professor was saying, not so fast. In Not in Our Lifetimes: The Future of Black Politics, political scientist Michael C. Dawson argues that the election of President Obama actually further complicated race relations in America. WBEZ’s Richard Steele recently spoke with Dawson and began by asking the author what he meant by "Not in Our Lifetimes."
