Doctors commonly prescribe opioids for pain, but with an opioid epidemic some are moving away from the practice. At a conference in Chicago this weekend, dentists are discussing other options. Dr. Phillip Fijal is President of the Chicago Dental Society, who organized the conference. He said he won’t prescribe opioids but instead tells patients that ibuprofen and Tylenol can do the trick for acute pain.
