Mayor Emanuel has said that he wants to make Chicago, “the most immigrant-friendly city in the world.” As part of his efforts to accomplish that goal, the city established the Office of New Americans. Last week, Emanuel tapped Adolfo Hernandez to direct that office. The young activist previously worked with the Active Transportation Alliance, a group that works on Chicago’s biking, walking and transit options. WBEZ’s Odette Yousef spoke with Hernandez to find out what his one-man office will do to deliver on Emanuel’s promise.
