Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel is asking city council to authorize borrowing $25 million more in General Obligation Bonds. That money would be used to buy 600 new police cars for a near 1,000 additional officers the city plans to hire in the next two years.
The city’s finance committee authorized the funding today, but the ordinance still needs a vote from the full city council.
