Did you miss it? We did. September brought us International Literacy Day. Why does that matter? Because it is estimated that one billion people in the world can’t read or write. But have no fear, Professor Gini is hear to remind us of why literacy is important in a democracy. It’s the key to freedom.

Professor Gini has been a fixture at WBEZ for over 20 years. Gini was a contributor to WBEZ programs Artistic License, Metropolis and most notably, Eight Forty-Eight. Gini is a professor of business ethics and chair of the department of management at Loyola University Chicago. He is also the co-founder and associate editor of Business Ethics Quarterly, and the author of several books, including Seeking the Truth of Things: Confessions of a (catholic) Philosopher.
