I recognize the good news in Chicago ending it’s ineffective blue bag recycling program and moving to an all Blue Bin program. But I am disappointed in the timeline. The City says the blue bins will be city-wide by 2011. I think three years is an embarassingly long time to wait. I understand that budgets are tight, but Mayor Daley has been touting Chicago as a Green city and this undermines that argument. We are light years behind other large cities. (My sister lives in Seattle, and they get fined it they don’t separate recyclables from their trash). Weigh in with what you think Chicago can and should be doing on the recycling front.
