Hockey and basketball season may be over for Chicago, but not baseball. No matter how their team is doing, every baseball fan loves the the long ball, the home run.

For 16 seasons the Chicago White Sox was home to one of baseball’s most successful sluggers: Frank Thomas. Thomas, aka “The Big Hurt”, retired with 521 homers. That may be a daunting record, but thanks to a new book, fans can also learn how to put the hurt on. Thomas recently collaborated with sportswriter Lew Freedman on Going Yard: The Everything Home Run Book.

He joined Eight Forty-Eight to provide listeners with a little hitting clinic.
