Futures Exchange: Chicago Students Discover China

This summer sixteen students and six teachers from Walter Payton College Prep High School toured China as guests of President Hu Jintao and formed sister-school agreements with two of China’s premier schools. Hosted by Hanban and the Confucius Institute, this delegation was able to experience firsthand China’s history, culture, and language and gain a deeper appreciation for global realities of the future.

Listen in as  representatives of the delegation share accounts of this trip, underscoring Thomas Friedman’s contention that the world is, indeed, hot, flat, and crowded. How the United States responds to these new realities is in the hands of young leaders like these students at Walter Payton.

Terry Mazany, president and chief executive officer of The Chicago Community Trust, will present Walter Payton students Eileena Gray, Jimmy Harper, Jordyn Holman, Alek Rinholm, Emily Tam, and Mackenzie Trumbull.

Recorded Thursday, November 10, 2011 at the InterContinental Hotel.
