A six-year-old girl was wounded in a drive-by shooting in Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood Monday night.

The girl was playing outside during a house party when a silver car pulled up and started firing shots. She was taken to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County in critical condition. Police say no one is in custody and the investigation is ongoing.

The shooting has rocked this normally quiet street.

Josue Gomez has lived and worked here as a building manager for fourteen years. He said his kids play with the girl, but after last night he feels like it may be time to leave the area.

“I might move to the suburbs,” he said. “To Addison. Addison is safe for the kids.”

Logan Square has gentrified rapidly in recent years, but shooting incidents are up in the neighborhood compared to the same time last year.
