Every Thursday on Global Activism we hear about an individual who’s trying to make the world a better place.

Today we talk with Jillian Swinford, who volunteered as a teacher for a month in Tanzania. She left feeling she could do more for the community of Moshi, Tanzania. With the help of locals, she helped form an organization called EdPowerment to improve education in the region. Jillian talks about the organization, which supports local schools, provides scholarhips for students and reaches out to families facing autism and other uncommon circumstances. She moves to Tanzania for a year this September 2011.
