It’s Thursday, and time for our Global Activism series. Each Thursday we hear about an individual who’s decided to work to make the world a better place. We’ll spend the rest of the hour talking with two of our global activists who are working on projects in Haiti.

Chuck Newman is an architect and the co-founder of Schools for Children of the World. His organization builds schools in the developing world. And now they’ve formed a task force to help address the problem of re-building Haiti’s schools. They’re in the process of recruiting structural engineers and project managers for the project.

Mona Purdy is the founder of Share Your Soles. They get gentley used shoes from drives and drop boxes and then deliver them to people who need them all over the world, including places like Haiti. Mona has just returned from Haiti, she joins us to talk about what she saw while she was there.
