On today’s Global Notes, Jerome and Radio M host Tony Sarabia kick off a new series called “Musical Show and Tell.” Once a month, we’ll examine a global intrument: its history, sound and influence on music.

We’re asking listeners to be our musical guides. If you play an instrument from another country or culture and want to tell us about it, send us an email at worldview@wbez.org. Put “Show and Tell” in the subject line. Make sure to include your name, number and the instrument you play.

For today’s installment, Northbrook resident Jalal Rais Dana introduces the Global Notes crew to a Persian instrument called the santur.

Also, you may recall that on last week’s Global Notes we had a Brothers Kuti Smackdown. Femi and Seoun Kuti, sons of Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti, both came out with new albums. We asked listeners to choose which album was the Afrobeat champ. The votes have been tallied: you preferred Seoun’s new album 2 to 1.
