With its lush Lincoln Park location, long list of vendors, major chef support and year-round presence, Green City Market was voted the No. 3 farmers market in the nation by The Daily Meal website, which released its list of the 101 Best Farmers earlier this week.

Topping the list was Pike Place Farmers Market in Seattle followed by the Downtown Farmers Market in Des Moines. Rounding out the Top 5 were the St Paul Farmers Market in Minnesota  at No. 4 and the Phoenix Public Market in Arizona at No. 5.

But Green City isn’t the only farmers market in Chicago and some people, in fact, find it a little snooty, sceney and pricey. Still, it’s the only market that the Daily Meal recognized in ALL of Chicago. The other two Illinois farmers markets that made the list are in Edwardsville and Zion.

Plus, I don’t see Madison, Wisconsin’s Dane County Farmers Market anywhere on the list. What’s up with that?

What’s your favorite farmers market in the Chicago area or not? And did it make the list?
