The Gary and Region Investment Project (GRIP), a multi-year effort to advance key transformative investments in Northwest Indiana’s urban core, is hosting its second GRIP Urban Exchange event. As the urban core of Northwest Indiana continues on the path to stabilization and recovery, communities must grapple with how best to engage, partner and support the growth of business.

The pursuit of “eds and meds” (higher education and medical facilities) has often been credited with Pittsburgh’s revitalization. A third important sector is technology, and the Pittsburgh Technology Council has been driving growth in the city for over 25 years. At this Urban Exchange, Audrey Russo, the CEO and president of the Pittsburg Technology Council, discusses the challenges and successes related to attracting the creative class to Pittsburgh, her partnerships with municipalities on a variety of policy issues to support the technology industry, and the private sector’s role in community revitalization.

Recorded Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at East Chicago Marina.
