Chicago based Groupon says it won’t be doing any more gun-related deals, leaving some business owners disappointed.

Groupon spokeswoman Julie Mossler says in a statement that Groupon’s been testing firearm-related deals like shooting ranges and concealed weapons courses for the last eight months. She says based on performance and customer feedback it’s “clear they’re not a fit right now.”

That was news to George Gray, owner of DMZ Tactical, a shooting range in Waterman, Ill.. Gray says he held a Groupon event last fall, and it was great for his business.

“We coupled our tactical training with a zombie shoot which was four stages, each stage has zombies, bleeding zombies,” Gray said. “They’re sorta like mannequins. Once you shoot them they’ll start bleeding.”

Gray was actually planning on doing another one this spring, and hadn’t yet heard from Groupon that they’re pulling the plug on it.  Gray called the whole thing is a shame.

“You’re punishing law abiding civilians and citizens for something that some idiot went and did on such and such occasion,” Gray said.

Groupon wouldn’t comment beyond the statement.
