Federal agents raided a kosher meatpacking plant in Postville, Iowa, in May. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE, arrested more than 300 workers, many for using another person’s social security number to get a job. ICE agents have said that the arrests were carried out professionally and constitutionally and that the operation was necessary for the safety and security of American people.

But busloads of activists are planning to travel from Chicago and other Midwestern cities for a rally this Sunday in support of the workers. And tomorrow, U.S. Representative Luis Gutierrez will be in Postville to meet with community members and people affected by the raid. Gutierrez represents Illinois’s 4th district and he joins us by phone.
