Some side streets in Chicago are still unplowed and cars remain buried under snow. But that’s not stopping some people from getting around.

Customers are walking and at least one man skied over to a shopping center in Logan Square.

Kevin Weiler and his roommate were marching home with a newly purchased shovel and bags of groceries.

“Might as well stock up even more, I guess. And it’s not like we have anything better to do today. So we thought ‘well, we’ll see what it’s like outside,’” Weiler said.

Across the street, the Xsport Fitness 24 hour gym remains open. A handful of gym members actually showed up like Laura Hammdorff who took advantage of a snow day from work.

“It’s just another day. Don’t let a little weather stop you. I’ve got a goal. I’m training for a half marathon. So gotta keep at it,” she said.

A skeleton crew manned the gym including a couple of workers who had been there since yesterday. One staff member said a manager went to go pick up a few other workers to relieve staff who were finishing up a double shift.
