Two blocks south of all the big-box stores and strip malls on Chicago’s Roosevelt Road, those who are down-and-out can find a home at the Pacific Garden Mission. To stay there, residents must contribute with simple tasks throughout the shelter, like cleaning.  Others get their hands dirty in the mission’s greenhouses.
