The Alternative Schools Network is meant for students who have already dropped out or are barely hanging on at traditional public schools. In recent years, as Chicago has expanded its charter school system, alternative schools continue to multiply. But just how much do we know about them? We turn to Christopher Mazzeo, associate director for policy and outreach at the Chicago Consortium on Chicago School Outreach, for an overview on the schools intended to help some of the city’s most at-risk students.
