Heavy rains and flooding in parts of the state delayed planting for many Illinois farmers in spring. It is still unclear how late planting could affect crop yield and prices.

For a statewide perspective of how Illinois farmers are faring, Eight Forty-Eight’s Alison Cuddy spoke to Fred Iutzi of the Illinois Institute for Rural Affairs. Iutziis is both a researcher and farmer.

Farmers at the Logan Square and Green City Farmers Markets also shared their thoughts on the season.
