Illinois’ Comptroller: Still In Debt Even With A Temporary Budget

Even with a temporary budget in place, Illinois State Comptroller Leslie Munger says the state will still be $10 billion in the hole by the end of the year.

Munger says they’re slowly getting payments out and there’s an order of who’ll get what first.

At the top of the list: debt service bonds, followed by schools and social service agencies that have been providing help without funding for the past year. These include programs for people with autism, with disabilities, rape crisis centers and others.
