A new state law will require hairdressers and salon workers to be trained to recognize signs of domestic violence or sexual assault. Salon professionals will not be required to report anything to officials, but they will be equipped to help. The state is working with Chicago Says No More, a domestic violence awareness group. The law takes effect in 2017.
