The new Republican National Committeeman for the state of Illinois has been selected.

Richard Porter was elected today to begin serving out the term of Rich Williamson who died last month.

In a statement released by the Illinois Republic Party, Chairman Jack Dorgan said, “We had five outstanding candidates, and each of them will continue to be critical to our work in restoring the two-party system in Illinois and expanding the base of the Republican Party.”

According to the statement, Porter joins National Committeewoman Demetra DeMonte and Dorgan as the Illinois delegation to the Republican National Committee. DeMonte has been Illinois National Committeewoman since 2008, and serves as Secretary of the Republican National Committee. Dorgan has been a member of the Committee since his election as chairman in 2013.
