Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche and Honorary Co-Chairs Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle invite everyone from all walks of life – young, old and in-between – to be inspired to envision peace for our streets, schools, neighborhoods, communities and cities.

The Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche, a recognized global leader in peace initiatives and the highest leader of Shambhala, will give an opening talk on Friday evening, titled: Creating Enlightened Society.  He will discuss how the Shambhala principle of the inherent goodness of all beings can be applied to the challenges of our daily lives and societal issues.

Saturday’s featured program will be a historic Youth Congress On Peace, turning an eye toward how we can address violence, and youth violence in particular, to create peace in our communities. This dynamic program agenda features:

  • Regional Youth & Leaders Examining Youth Violence Through A Lens Of Peace
  • Theater Productions, Art, Poetry & Prose Readings, Student Film Screenings
  • Solutions For Preventing Youth Violence & Creating Peace In Our Communities

Friday Program Venue:
