We are a little more than one year out from the 2012 national elections. The nation seems sunk in an economic quagmire, our troops are still at war, and Washington is in gridlock. At a time when we should be coming together, why is the nation experiencing such a deep divide? Listen in to this panel discussion where we pick apart politics, chronicle the political past, and ask what our leaders and voters can do now to reach true and meaningful compromise. Panelists include Michael Mezey, professor of political science at DePaul University, and other journalists and political experts. Journalist Laura Washington moderates this monthly In the K/Now series that explores contemporary issues affecting life in Chicago.

Recorded Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at the Chicago History Museum.
