Cameras and other recording devices will be allowed in criminal courtrooms in Indiana.

Indiana Supreme Court Chief Justice Randall Shepard announced Tuesday that he will allow cameras in trial courts in Indiana under a pilot program beginning July 1.

Indiana joins a growing list of states that permit cameras in courtrooms.

Illinois does not allow cameras or media microphones in court.
