Indiana's Republican Party Will Meet To Select New Governor

Republican party leaders in Indiana will meet Tuesday to select a new candidate to run for governor. The old candidate, Mike Pence, dropped out of the race to become Donald Trump’s running mate.

But already, Pence is giving his support to his lieutenant governor Eric Holcomb to replace him on the November ballot. Holcomb is one of four candidates in the running.

Former state party boss and Trump’s campaign manager in Indiana, Rex Early, says Democrat John Gregg is in trouble no matter who is selected. Recent polls had showed Gregg was in a tight race against Pence.

WBEZ’s Michael Puente reports.
