In of Northern Australia, the sight of the bufo marinus, otherwise known as the “cane toad,” has become all too familiar. The non-native toads have been hopping across the continent at an alarming rate, killing many top predators in their paths. Rick Shine is a professor of biology at the University of Sydney and studies ways to control the exploding cane toad population.  He told Jerome what originally brought the toads to Australian shores.
