Jarrett Payton on his father Walter's legacy
One of the most famous 1985 Bears was of course Walter Payton. Sweetness was also one of the smoothest, greatest football players of all time. He captured the hearts of fans for 13 seasons.
The Pro Football Hall of Fame inducted him in 1993, as soon as he was eligible.
In his speech, Payton vowed to apply the energy he used to chase after Jim Brown and Gale Sayers toward ensuring his children’s happiness.
And before his death in 1999, Payton and his wife Connie secured their commitment to many children, with the Walter and Connie Payton Foundation.
Their mission continues with Walter’s son Jarrett Payton. He came back to Chicago this year to play for the Slaughter in the Indoor Football League.
When he’s not playing football, visiting area schools or calling Comcast’s High School Game of the Week, Jarrett Payton mans a mic on Chicagoland Sports Radio.
