JB Pritzker Becomes 43rd Governor Of Illinois: His Speech And Roundtable Analysis
JB Pritzker became Illinois’ 43rd governor today, after Cook County Judge James Snyder administered the oath of office at noon. Pritzker ran on a progressive platform, defeating one-term governor Republican Bruce Rauner last November. Pritzker, a billionaire heir to the Hyatt Hotels fortune, takes the reigns of a state struggling to fund basic social services and pension obligations. Pritzker has creative proposals to alleviate the state’s budget woes, including legalizing marijuana, and transitioning to a graduated income tax. WBEZ brings live coverage of Gov. Pritzker’s inauguration and remarks, followed by analysis from WBEZ state politics reporter Dave McKinney, and hosted by Worldview's Jerome McDonnell. Joining them to dissect Pritzker's progressive agenda is Amisha Patel, executive director of the Grassroots Collaborative.
